DEPARTMENTS | EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY

Emergency Management Agency of Miller County is the local agency responsible for coordinating mitigation, preparing for, responding to and recovering from any natural or man-made disaster.

We have recently become a certified Storm Ready Community thru the National Weather Service. We work closely with first responders, city and county officials and local volunteer organizations. In our all hazards planning approach, we prepare for threats from hurricanes, tropical storms and tornadoes as well as man-made or technological emergencies such as hazardous material spill and wildfires. Miller EMA has recently contracted with CodeRED to provide citizens with an early warning system in case of severe weather or natural disasters. We serve as the local representative for the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA). GEMA's mission is to provide a comprehensive and aggressive approach to mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery and special events. The purpose of the mission is to protect life and property and to prevent and/or reduce the negative impact of natural and man-made events in Georgia.
